We are currently seeking talentedgraduate students and professionals who know how fun learning can be in the right hands.Due to the success of our initial subjects, we are excited to introduce content in math and science.
Work with a growing startup doing what you love. We are looking for illustrators who are passionate about their subjects, well-informed about current events and pop culture, and ready to infuse their images with the spirit of our lively and humorous approach to learning.

Job Requirements

  • Illustrate images for e-textbook content in biology, chemistry, and physics
  • Develop a "Shmoop style" that reflects our philosophy to learning
  • Design and incorporate interactive elements to enhance the learning process

    • Needed Skills

  • Bachelor's in biology, chemistry, physics, or engineering
  • 1-2 years experience in science illustration
  • Current Master's or PhD graduate students who love illustrating are encouraged to apply
  • Experience drawing biology and biochemistry illustrations (including but not limited to cells, organisms, organs, membranes, proteins, cycles, processes, ecological systems, phylogenetic trees)
  • Creative and able to develop a consistent style that includes cartoon-like illustrations
  • Extremely detail-oriented, organized, meticulous, and accurate
  • Familiar with image file formats (EPS, TIFF, PNG, PDF, JPEG)
  • Sample illustrations or a portfolio required
