Morgan Stanley may deposit safe custody assets held by it on behalf of clients into an account, or accounts, opened with a third party, but only if it exercises all due skill, care, and diligence in the selection, appointment and periodic review of the third party and of arrangements for the holding and safekeeping of those safe custody assets. It is the role of Global Network Management (GNM) to select, review and monitor the custody and clearing agent bank network for the Firm, and to provide an audit trail to evidence this work. Beyond this regulatory requirement GNM's mission is to develop and maintain the global clearing & custody infrastructure, through effective relationship, risk and expense management and client support.

GNM's core responsibilities include new market entry, selection and management of agent bank relationships, pre-investment support and provision of market information relevant to the business activity of the Firm and its client. The associate / director role with the New York GNM team will involve a variety of tasks including, but not limited to,

  • Ongoing review of US agent bank providers, through various due diligence procedures including evaluations, service level agreements, contract review, on-site reviews and in-house meetings. Large focus on US cash providers.
  • Issue management / escalation.
  • Establishment of new agent relationships.
  • Management / coordination of Letter of Credit functions, including new issuance, fee payment, reporting and technology.
  • Conducting detailed analysis in connection with agent bank selection and settlement model review.
  • Coordination of select business management activities including TDABC, KRIs, etc.

  • Skills Required


  • Excellent organization and communication skills. Strong ability to work and communicate effectively across geographic lines (internally and externally).
  • High level of expertise in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, macros, etc) and PowerPoint. Proficiency in Microsoft Project and SharePoint a plus.
  • Ability to perform detailed cost analysis / modeling in Excel.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize varying workload.
  • Knowledge of USD cash clearing a plus.
  • Ideal candidate will have 3-5 years in financial services with experience using above applications.
