Title: Corporate Process Safety Engineer
Location: CT-Danbury
Corporate Loss Prevention Engineer is accountable for leading the loss prevention program, field surveys, reports, and global action plans that result from loss prevention surveys and activities. This person will also proactively manage loss prevention with global standard development and implementation, process safety project work, and other loss prevention activities.

Primary Responsibilities Of This Position Include

  • Lead global businesses, regions, GSS, and GOE to develop and close loss prevention action plans.
  • Leads the resolution of issues between Praxair, Insurance Carriers, and Industry loss prevention standards and practices.
  • Lead and develop global loss prevention standards and directives
  • Innovates the development and implementation of new approaches and tools in loss prevention and appropriate elements and sections of process safety.
  • Defines and coordinates work within the scope of loss prevention projects and ensures that objectives are met
  • Makes tough decisions in a timely manner, sometimes without complete information and under tight deadlines and pressure.
  • Demonstrates exceptional judgment in leading the creative process of others in establishing priorities to support business strategy.
  • Conceives, develops and evaluates plans and criteria for solving a variety of unique and complex loss prevention and process safety problems.
  • Considers global impact of decisions. Establishes a global network of contacts.
  • Champions new ideas or positions.
  • Serves as expert resource for Praxair and maintains a thorough knowledge of new technologies and external industry standards.
  • Will become recognized as a corporate-wide expert in loss prevention and process safety
  • Develops and implements Praxair's loss prevention and applicable portions of the process safety program.
  • Ensures that necessary loss prevention and process safety programs are in place to reduce employee and business risk.
  • Leads regional and global businesses in the complex coordination of loss prevention field inspections
  • Proactively identifies potential gaps in existing standards and establishes and leads teams to correct
  • Project management and participation in process safety focus areas that drive loss prevention activities
  • Develop multi-year field survey schedules and closely coordinate activities with Corporate S&ES and Finanical Assessment Team
  • Combined domestic and foreign travel (50%)

  • Minimum Qualifications

    BS in Civil, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
    15 years combined experience in engineering (design, construction, production), operations, maintenance and plant leadership experience, and loss prevention/process safety

    Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with fire prevention engineering insurance standards
  • Knowledge of electrical codes and NFPA codes.
  • Knowledge of Building codes as they apply to loss prevention.
  • Knowledge of mechanical integrity and reliability programs
