SmartSource has a one year renewable contract opportunity for an experience Managed Print Services Project Manager in the Greater New York City area. This position requires the ability to travel up to 50% of the time and to financially handle travel costs while waiting to be reimbursed.

Attention: Manager will give a strong preference to candidates in the NYC/Jersey City area, but candidates should be no more than 2 to 2.5 hours travel from NYC. Please indicate travel time to NYC with application.

As a member of the Company's Managed Print Services (MPS) organization, the Project Manager (PM) will lead a team of internal (non-dedicated) personnel and external partners to deploy printers/MFPs and/or take over management of existing devices for new and existing customers. The PM will serve as the primary interface for client personnel from contract signature through deployment of all contracted hardware, software and services. Projects could range from a few hundred to 25,000+ devices, with varying elements of scope (custom device configurations, software/workflow solutions, on-site personnel, old device disposal services, etc.) Project Managers will be assisted by a Project Coordinator (PC) who will manage hardware orders, deliveries and asset data. Each PM will typically manage 1-3 projects simultaneously depending on the size/scope of assigned projects.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Cultivate a strong relationship with the customer by working in their environment and being a key The Company's representative in customer meetings.
  • Maintain a very positive and helpful attitude with the customer, help resolve any challenges around products and services, and represent The Company in a professional manner.
  • Plan, direct, monitor, and evaluate project activities of both Company and client-owned tasks to ensure a successful implementation.
  • Utilize PMO prescribed processes, procedures and methodology, including creation and timely distribution of updated project plans, meeting minutes, and action logs.
  • Identify areas of risk and develop appropriate contingencies, escalating issues when needed.
  • Manage scope creep and change control processes.
  • Facilitate and document weekly meetings and progress reviews with both client and internal personnel, providing contingency and problem resolution plans as required.
  • Establish a baseline budget, timeline and set of customer expectations at project initiation and manage to that baseline.
  • Regularly review and reconcile project-related hardware inventory until installed at customer location and loaded into The Company's Asset Management System.
  • Manage installation and disposal partners in the delivery of services on behalf of The Company.
  • Manage on-site installation work at customer locations, as needed. May include helping to unbox and stage equipment, pushing configurations over customer network, etc.
  • Provide oversight to Project Coordination activities, ensuring accurate order entry and managing shipment/installation schedules to minimize days between shipment-to-asset upload.
  • Provide timely updates to management on projects, new opportunities, and issues.
  • Support sales of new services with the customer, as warranted.

  • Qualifications

  • College Degree and Project Management Certification strongly preferred.
  • Strong task management, problem solving and process management skills, with an ability to direct work through non-dedicated resources.
  • Experience managing delivery of services through external partners (carriers, installation partner technicians, disposal partners, etc.).
  • Strong customer-centric, professional communication skills and demeanor.
  • Ability to work in a potentially high stress/demanding environment.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to balance budget considerations while meeting the customer's demands and project deadlines.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft products: Project, Word, Excel and PowerPoint are a must; Visio experience also preferable.
  • Ability to support night/weekend installs for some (~5% of) projects.
  • Ability to travel, on average, around 40-50%. Travel on an individual project could range from a few days for the entire project, while other projects could require 90% travel. During high-travel periods, PM may return home for weekends (or mid-week if weekend installations required).
  • Ability to physically support on-site installation activities: light lifting (desk-top printers) and standing/walking all day, for multiple, consecutive days.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Ability to cover travel expenses until reimbursed via expense report. Expenses are entered weekly and reimbursed bi-weekly with payroll.

    Compensation: $55 - $60 per hour D.O.E
    5 PTO days and 6 paid holidays
    W-2 only, no 1099, Corp to Corp, or H1B
