Position Description

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, systems analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience.
  • Continued education including technology certifications in related fields preferred.
    Knowledge/Skills preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience working with data architecture
  • 5-7 years of data warehouse/reporting experience
  • Experience with Oracle Warehouse Builder (OWB) and Cognos
  • Experience working with Oracle Universal Content Management (UCM) and enterprise content taxonomy
  • Experience working with Oracle E-Business.
  • Expertise in application architecture/design artifacts and mechanisms.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and hands on experience with business intelligence and data warehouse design and implementation.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new tools and technologies through both formal and on-the-job self training.
  • Ability to direct many activities at once: keeping 3-5 projects moving forward, proactively anticipating and addressing issues, and implementing solutions.

  • Requirements

    The Software Engineer III - Information Management (IM) Architect will provide senior level leadership and technical expertise as an architect of data and information for School Specialty. The role requires designing and implementing a comprehensive information management strategy together with major business stakeholders. A strong technical background/experience is required to provide direction in two areas: 1) drive the BT organization to the correct architecture and purchase/design decisions by working with the BT management team and 2) drive related implementation decisions by influencing associate and contract teams.
    Summary of essential job functions

  • Function as expert with enterprise data management policies and procedures, data standardization & taxonomy, data integration & synchronization, data distribution, data lifecycle, data warehousing, and reporting and business intelligence.
  • Provide executive level recommendations on information management, content management taxonomy, business intelligence and data warehouse strategies, as well as conduct the analysis needed to provide these recommendations.
  • Define, design and implement innovative data reporting delivery methods such as mobile and laptop platforms
  • Work closely with the Enterprise Architecture and Middleware teams to ensure alignment of plans with what is being delivered.
  • Participate in Enterprise Architecture planning initiatives as the Information Architect expert.
  • Develop documented specifications of all information architecture design and analysis work to be consumed by information management team.
  • Work effectively with vendors and consultants to leverage best practices and deliver solutions.
  • Make technical and process improvement recommendations.
  • Advise BT and business leadership on trends and emerging technologies.
  • Mentor BT staff on related tools and technology.
