Job Description & Duties
- Own and ensure compliance with the site's Valve Mechanical Integrity Program (includes pressure relief devices, flame arrestors, detonation arrestors, and critical check valves)
- Manages Pressure Relief Device Inspection program, owns and coordinates program work flow process: specification & maintenance history reviews, scope development, purchasing, planning/scheduling, execution, shop inspections, record keeping and inspection interval adjustments
- Audit and maintain measures for the Pressure Relief Device Inspection Program per Mechanical Integrity Program requirements
- Perform and/or participate in root cause failure analysis for valve failures
- Own and develop pressure relief device standards and toolbox procedures
- Provide support for capital projects including: scenario and sizing verification and specification and standard reviews of pressure relief devices and other valve types
Work Experience & Skills Required
- Engineering degree with 5+ years of experience within a refining, chemical, or heavy industrial environment
- Knowledgeable in pressure relief device specifications, applications (psv, p/v vents, flame arrestors, and detonation arrestors), testing and maintenance
- Experience in performing root cause failure analysis
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Work Experience & Skills Preferred
- Knowledge and experience in developing pressure relief device overpressure protection scenarios and performing sizing calculations
- Familiar with pressure relief device failure modes
- Knowledge and experience related to pressure vessels, piping, heat exchangers, fired process equipment and the factors that affect the reliability of fixed equipment
- Experience in developing equipment reliability strategies
- Proficient in the use of Maximo CMMS, Meridium, and ioMosaic software
- Experience developing and managing equipment standards
- Knowledgeable in ASME and API codes
- Refinery corrosion mechanisms and materials experience
Education Required
- Bachelor's of science degree in mechanical, civil, reliability, or chemical/petroleum engineering (or similar) from an ABET- accredited program
Education Preferred
- Knowledgeable and experience in applying API 520, API 521, and Api 2000
- Knowledgeable and experience in applying ASME Section I and VIII as pertaining to overpressure protection devices
Other Considerations
- Able to travel up to 10% of the time
- Some overtime may be required, including nights, weekends, and holidays during turnaround and outages
