Located on 14.5 park-like acres, Kahi Mohala's 88-bed facility is Hawaii's only private, freestanding psychiatric hospital. Kahi Mohala provides comprehensive behavioral health services for adults, adolescents and children experiencing problems with psychiatric disorders, depression, eating disorders, emotional disturbances and family relationship challenges. The buildings and grounds offer a complete residential environment with an emphasis on patient safety and security.
Personnel in this job specialty assignment are responsible to assist in all preventive maintenance and other jobs assigned relating to air conditioning, plumbing, electrical, painting, carpentry, and other equipment maintained by the Hospital Maintenance Department. The Maintenance Specialist also assists others in requested by the Maintenance Supervisor, and must show a willingness to serve in emergency or disaster situations.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; able to read, write, and speak English fluently, and have a solid working knowledge of general maintenance techniques and minor equipment repair.

Maintenance Specialist is expected to have a minimum of one-year experience in general maintenance work. Experience in a hospital or similar setting is preferred.

Knowledge of general maintenance techniques is required, i.e. carpentry and remodeling, electrical repairs, air conditioning, plumbing, dry wall, and painting to include, but not be limited to the following: fixing doors, locks, window, hinges, catches, etc.; repair simple mechanical equipment; change plugs, replace worn wire, replace burned out light bulbs, unstop drains, replace washers, worn floats, etc; install and repair screens, window panes, etc.

Must also be knowledgeable in preparation of preventive maintenance schedules and performance of scheduled P.M. Knowledge of furniture assembly and disassembly is required. This position is also required to assist in emergencies relating to the operations and repairs of hospital mechanical equipment.
