TechTarget is seeking an Assistant Site Editor for the Business Applications and Architecture Media Group. This position involves tasks such as researching, reporting and writing articles; producing webcasts, podcasts and videos; helping to create guides, tutorials and special reports; using social media to promote content; and handling site updates for several websites that cover business intelligence, analytics, data warehousing, data management, content management and related technologies.

The Assistant Site Editor will be part of a team of editors and writers responsible for the editorial content on the sites, which include SearchBusinessAnalytics.com, SearchContentManagement.com and SearchDataManagement.com. He or she will collaborate with other team members on a regular basis; as a result, this position requires excellent communication skills and an aptitude for teamwork. It also requires strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.

The ideal candidate will have previous editorial experience in the enterprise IT field; existing knowledge of the BI, content management and/or data management markets is a plus. All candidates must have the ability to understand technical concepts and create content for an audience of sophisticated technology and business professionals. The Assistant Site Editor will also travel to relevant trade shows and conferences across the U.S. and is expected to take part in site visits and other local events.

Essential Job Functions

  • Developing an understanding of the priorities and challenges of BI, data warehousing, data management and content management professionals *
  • Reporting and writing editorial articles, including news stories, Q&As and FAQs *
  • Working with other editors to produce guides, tutorials and special reports *
  • Working with outside contributors to produce Ask the Expert content items *
  • Planning and recording webcasts, videos and podcasts with consultants and IT pros *
  • Maintaining and updating website home pages and posting some editorial content *
  • Using social media platforms to promote editorial content *
  • Assembling and scheduling email newsletters *
  • Attending/covering relevant trade shows and conferences (likely two to three per year)

  • Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Desired

  • At least two years of experience as an online writer, editor or content producer *
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, English or another relevant subject area *
  • Strong writing skills, with knowledge of the fundamentals and ethics of news writing *
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and on a team *
  • Critical thinking skills, including an aptitude for technical subjects and concepts *
  • Experience with content management systems and applications such as Word and Excel *
  • Pluses include existing knowledge of IT, BI and data management topics, familiarity with SEO techniques and prior experience in producing multimedia content.
