WAPT-TV's CSD is not only in charge of the station and digital operation's brand message and positioning, but is also a tireless champion for the WAPT-TV/WAPT.com/WAPT Mobile brand through creative output and policing. Through strong brand marketing knowledge, energy, creativity and persuasive abilities, your passion for excellence will be instrumental in taking a station already at historic ratings heights to the number one position in the DMA. It's critical that the CSD be an excellent communicator and collaborator. In addition to leading a three person department, you'll have daily contact with pros from all the departments and run the weekly station Marketing/Community Outreach meeting. Experience executing a station marketing plan is a must, as is a track record of aggressively and opportunistically using station research to hit aggressive station rating goals. You'll also be overseeing programming promotion, graphic arts and community events. Oh, and you have to have a sense of humor and the desire to have fun working hard for the best media country on the planet.
Job Responsibilities Lead a department with a graphic artist/editor and a writer/producer.
Think critically, communicate well.
Hands on shooting/editing.
Work closely with the News Director and his team to develop/execute powerful topicals and image spots that reflect the WAPT News / Station brand.
Understand research and how to use it to build/execute powerful marketing plan.
Collaborate with all the department heads on station matters.
Lead the weekly Marketing/Community Outreach team that determines projects/events to sponsor.
Oversee WAPT's social media initiatives, working closely with the news /digital team to identify daily opportunities to reach the target audience.
This is a diary market, which means creation/execution of powerful tactical spots that reinforce the brand is extremely important.
Oversee the PR, including station news releases.
Prepare a plan….follow a plan….in highly organized/focused manner.
Effectively communicate plans/critiques with GM.
Effectively communicate/handle deadlines from corporate VP for Marketing.
Work closely with HTV counsel to make sure all contests are properly vetted.
Work well with ABC marketing reps to get the very most out of the network partnership.
In charge of all trafficking (Wide Orbit-PRO). Must know how to interpret ratings and smartly/efficiently use the promotional buy on WAPT to most effectively target the proper audience for most ratings impact.
Have ability to laugh at yourself, have fun with fellow pros and live a fulfilling life outside the TV station.
Education 4 year college degree required---Communication/marketing related major not required.
Experience Requirements Minimum of five years of experience in TV station promotion/marketing
Other marketing/TV news experience is a plus
