John Crane Engineered Bearings PLANT MANAGER - COLUMBUS, NE BASIC FUNCTION : John Crane is a Global Leader in the design and manufacture of mechanical seals, couplings, seal support systems, filters and hydro-dynamic bearings. Working for John Crane Engineered Bearings, based in Columbus, NE, you will support the strategic growth of the hydrodynamic bearings product line. As a Plant Manager you will d irect and coordinate manufacturing operations and improve overall cost, quality, and on-time delivery of company products. This position will regularly be called on to solve production problems and implement change at a local level with direction from the corporate office. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS : Responsible for making shipments to customers as scheduled. Direct all Columbus management personnel in meeting production requirements. Justify and approve overtime to meet production goals, shipping goals, and company objectives. Supervise Production Manager and assists with machine workload schedules to meet production requirements. Responsible for recruiting and hiring of employees to achieve manpower targets to meet manufacturing capacity requirements. Consistently and fairly evaluate employees based on performance and make recommendations for pay increases. Be accountable for efficiency achieved against production rates and quality of production. Coach personnel and lead the efficient and economical manufacture of all company products. Supervise to ensure that all manufacturing tasks performed are assigned to the most economical level at which the task can be accomplish competently. Ensure a safe working environment. Works with corporate EHS division to make certain JCEB is in compliance with federal and state safety regulations. Oversee and assist in coordinating workload and job assignments issued to Machine Maintenance Department. Verify established policy, rules, and procedures with managers, supervisors and hourly employees to insure they are followed. Provide for effective employer-employee relationships and promote appropriate training and educational programs. Take an active role in maintaining the morale of the production-working group. Confers with Design and Manufacturing Engineering to assure designs utilize the best manufacturing processes. Perform other duties as assigned. REQUIERED QUALIFICATIONS : 5+ years CNC Machining experience as a Machinist or working in a Machine Shop. 5+ years leading a multi-level team in a manufacturing facility. 5+ years managing both hourly and salaried employees. 2+ years background in tool and fixture design. Proven past ability to train and motivate personnel. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities accurately, effectively and efficiently. Common sense approach to production problems and ability to implement change. Strong ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications. Strong computer aptitude and ability to effectively navigate through various Microsoft Office programs. Great communications skills - written and oral. Must have very strong interpersonal skills to deal with all types of employees. Capable of lifting 50 pounds and with use of mechanical aids manipulate parts or machines exceeding 20,000 pounds. PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor-Ts Degree from an accredited institution preferred with a minimum of five (5) or more years experience in manufacturing management.
