Support the GATX business processes that are supported by the SAP application from a technical perspective. These include Financial functions (financial accounting, cost accounting, treasury), Leasing functions, Billing, Materials Management and Purchasing. Work with business users to gather requirements, develop solutions using SAP’s ABAP programming language, test solutions and roll-out to the business. Focus should be on producing value added results in a timely manner with high quality.

Responsibilities

Work as a business analyst on small to medium sized enhancement related projects/initiatives to understand business requirements for areas supported by our SAP environment.
Translate business requirements into efficient solutions developed using ABAP.
Test solutions and deploy.
Respond to support and maintenance requests related to SAP and other integrated systems as appropriate.
Work with business users to understand issue and respond quickly to resolve production issues.
Comply with GATX standards of development and documentation (Internal standards, Sarbanes Oxley, etc).

Investigate and stay abreast of technical and practical industry information related to delivery practices, tools and platforms.

Identify and institute best practices as appropriate.

Primary contacts will be:

Primary users of SAP and their managers. Users will be working directly with Sr. ABAP developer to log support issues and make enhancement requests. Business Managers work with the IT staff to determine which enhancements provide business value and to help define requirements with the users. User interaction will be needed in testing and deployment processes as well.

SAP Staff at GATX. There are other ABAP developers. ABAP developers should work as a team to collaborate on best approach to solving issues and addressing new requirements. Heavy Interaction with the Configuration staff will also be required as solutions often involve both configuration and ABAP development.

Application Support resources for areas outside of SAP that interface to SAP such as our web environments, our mainframe environment, etc. including Java Development resources

SAP Infrastructure (BASIS) resources.

Data Architecture resources.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
7 years ABAP experience required.
Must have demonstrated ability to build quick and effective work rapport with others and strong teambuilding skills.

Candidate must be experienced in SAP version ECC 6.0 and familiar with ABAP methodologies, project management frameworks, and software delivery tools. Java development experience a plus but not required.
