Litigation Attorney - Chicago Office

Lindsay, Rappaport & Postel, LLC, a Small/Mid-Size Insurance Defense and Coverage Law Firm, with Chicago and Waukegan offices, seeks a Full Time Experienced Litigation Associate Attorney for its Chicago office.

Ideal candidate must be a professional, highly motivated, and organized individual with excellent written, verbal and research skills, and work well under pressure. Must also have strong deposition and motion practice skills, sharp negotiation skills, manage multiple priorities, take initiative, be detail orientated, and willing to travel. Must have jury trial experience, and experience handling construction injury cases, premises liability cases, product liability cases and other liability defense cases.

Job Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include handling active case load, analyzing legal and factual issues; conduct research; develop defense strategies; prepare and complete timely motions, briefs, other pleadings and discovery documents; handle court hearings, depositions, mediation/arbitrations, trials, etc.; provide effective and timely communications, legal advice and other services to claim representatives and/or clients; and provide back-up assistance when necessary to other team members.

Requirements

  • Must have 5+ years of recent litigation experience in insurance defense
  • Must have significant jury trial experience
  • JD from accredited law school
  • Admission to practice law in Illinois
  • Excellent written, verbal and research skills
  • Strong deposition and motion practice skills
  • Sharp negotiation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Adobe
  • Detailed oriented
  • Meet deadlines and implement priorities with minimal direction
  • Ability to handle and maintain highly confidential information
  • Willing to travel
