Job Responsibilities

Geomechanics engineer, responsible for simulation and analysis of natural and hydraulic fractures using FracMan software, for applications in the oil and gas and mining industry. Responsibilities include analyses in support of the optimization of production from gas shales and fractured carbonate reservoirs, environmental contamination modeling for fractured bedrock, and geomechanical simulation of surface and underground mines. Geomechanical responsibilities include evaluation of fracture propagation, wedge and block stability, block caving, and subsidence due to fluid production. Hydrodynamic responsibilities include flow of Darcy fluids, Bingham fluids such as grout, and coupled heat/mass flow for geothermal analyses.

Job Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Geotechnical, Civil, Mining/Mineral Engineering degree with a geomechanical or geotechnical specialization including coursework involving earth science-based engineering fundamentals such as rock and soil mechanics problems.
  • Must also have one year of experience with the following software: FracMan Reservoir Edition, FracMan Geomechanics Edition, a hybrid finite element/discrete element method code such as ELFEN, and geotechnical software applications, including FLAC, SLOPE/W, SIGMA/W, Slide, and Dips. Experience must also include static/pseudo-static slope stability analysis using limit equilibrium and finite element methods.
