IS Application Development Intern

Brief Description

This position works as part of a project team to develop software applications, manage production issues, help leadprojects and learn all facets of the software development lifecycle. It is a year-round, paid intern position.

Development

  • Participate in the physical development of applications. Prepare, program, test and document.
  • Project Management
  • Help project manager with project management tasks
  • Participate in the requirements analysis, general design and implementation of applications
  • Develop an understanding of business and technical requirements for each assigned task
  • Research problems, define changes, prepare, test and install changes
  • Participate in project meetings
  • Create and update technical design specifications
  • Prepare and conduct unit, integration, and system testing. Work with the business partner on the final acceptancetesting
Production Support:

  • Working with customers, provide support for production systems. Research problems, define changes, prepare,test and install changes
Process Excellence:

  • Provide technical and business information, support and training to Schreiber internal customers to assist themin performing and improving their daily work processes
Continue Personal Growth

  • Provide for and participate in educational, personal growth and cross-training opportunities
Learning Objectives:

  • Learn new technologies (i.e. SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle Applications, EDI, etc.)
  • Learn how to manage a project from beginning to end by taking a business need and developing a solution to solve it
  • Gain an understanding of the various roles in the application development area (analysis, design, project management)
  • Learn different facets of the business and how to work on cross functional teams/projects

Qualifications

  • Major field of study: Computer Science, MIS, or Business preferred.
  • Exposure to project-specific programming languages
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work successfully both independently and in teams
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • High energy/demonstrate initiative
  • Ability to drive towards results
  • Good problem solving skills

Amount of Travel Less than 5 percent
