Position Summary

The Childbirth Educator teaches Childbirth Education Classes for the community members who sign up for the classes. There is a variety of classes offered from prenatal / Lamaze classes to Sibling Classes (Kangaroo Kapers), to Boot Camp for Dads and Mom/baby support groups.

Minimum Requirements

Physically able to stand and/or walk throughout building for completion of a two to two and half hour class.
Able to support patient weighing a minimum of 150 lbs. and supplies weighing a minimum of 40 lbs.
Able to prioritize and organize the multiple demands of the position.
Able to identify occupational hazards and use safety precautions.
Able to move about facility freely.
Able to communicate appropriately verbally and in writing to patients, visitors and staff.
Possesses good manual dexterity, ability to execute detailed procedures, and visual and auditory acuity for patient environment assessment.

Education/Licenses/Certifications
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Currently licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Washington.
OR: Graduate of a Childbirth Education Association program or International Childbirth Education Association Certification. Except: Boot Camp for Dads - these instructors are recruited from the childbirth class and need to be a Dad" with specific training from the Boot Camp For Dads Group
