The School of Continuing Studies seeks a program director to manage and provide support to the Master of Professional Studies programs in Technology Management and Systems Engineering Management. The person in this position is critical to the day-to-day functions as well as the long-term vision of the program. This position leads the areas of implementation and management, management of the student experience (prospective and current students), and overall program management.
This position is central to the design, management and assessment of the program as well as the attendant reputation of the program. Required duties will include assessing the effectiveness of the curriculum (including future online and current and future onsite portions), and ensuring they are as beneficial to the students as possible. The person in this position will be responsible for ensuring that the day-to-day operations and processes of the programs run effectively and efficiently. This person will be responsible for planning and coordinating all logistical aspects of the programs.
The program director will provide critical support in both short- and long-term strategic planning including industry outreach, as the programs continue to progress and grow. This person must communicate directly with individuals within the University and external to Georgetown, including the University at large, partners, and industry experts. This program director is the lead contact with the Registrar's Office, Office of International Programs, Financial Aid and Student Accounts, etc.
This position has responsibility for the administrative aspects of student enrollment including, but not limited to, student records and data, electronic and in-person communication with students about enrollment and registration, managing the course management and add/drop process and all functions that ensure an efficient and orderly student matriculation and registration process. The program director will manage social media aspects of both programs, and will work with student associations/groups and SCS internal departments to include Career Services, Admissions, Academic Affairs & Compliance, etc.
A Bachelor's degree in a technical field (Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or related area) is required; a Master's degree or equivalent experience in a related technical field is preferred. The position requires a minimum of three years in a professional environment; project administration or management experience; and experience in an academic environment. Experience in the technical sector is desired. The successful candidate will be proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite and student information systems such as Banner, Destiny One, etc. This position requires exceptional interpersonal skills to work with students, potential students, and faculty, and to create partnerships with industry. The position also requires strong organizational and writing abilities and public speaking/presentation skills. A commitment to professionalism and confidentiality is essential. Experience in higher education or academic administration is a plus and supervisory skills are preferred.
