Overview

Bryan College was established in 1940 by Dr. Mildred T. Bryan in central Los Angeles as a stenography school and is the oldest such college in the United States. Dr. Bryan initially named the institution Bryan Stenotype School, which started as a one-classroom institution with three students. Dr. Bryan was a visionary of her time as her drive to train qualified stenographers pushed the development and advancement of the court reporting industry. Based on Dr. Bryans initial vision, the college has grown with a strong core focus on student and employer driven principles of excellence, developing a strong brand image in the legal industry.

In 2005, with a new campus, Bryan College began the process of introducing new degree programs that would support its brand, maintain its legacy, and continue to support its core student and employer focused values. These new programs aligned well with Bryans mission and legacy as they were, and continue to be, selected based on the simple focus of allowing students to gain marketable skills that result in employment. Bryan College is nationally accredited by ACICS, is recognized as a college of distinction and is approved by the Department of Education.

To further differentiate Bryan from other higher learning institutions, Bryan has taken a unique approach to virtual online distance education. As the learning environment has evolved, so too has Bryan with virtual classrooms. Bryans Phoenix virtual education production facility produces engaging, interactive coaching environments that help students accelerate and retain knowledge. Currently, our students attend virtual classrooms from many states.

Most recently, Bryan College became Bryan University as it received university status offering graduate programs in e-Discovery and Health Informatics. Advisory board members and faculty for these programs include highly recognized leading U.S. industry executives and professionals. Bryan has the foundation to excel and be ranked as a top tier university in its program offerings. Our history dictates that with our focus on students well continue to excel through education for years to come.
