Mercy Medical Center Des Moines is an acute care, not-for-profit Catholic hospital licensed for 802 beds across three campuses. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1893, Mercy is the longest continually operating hospital in Des Moines and is committed to providing the best medical, emotional and spiritual care available to patients and their loved ones.With nearly 6,700 employees and a medical staff of more than 950 physicians and allied health professionals, Mercy is one of Iowas largest employers and one of the Midwests largest referral centers. Areas of excellence include heart and heart surgery, vascular services, orthopaedics, cancer and oncology services, surgery, pediatrics, diabetes services, women and infants services, emergency and trauma care, medical imaging, critical care, neurology and a wide array of specialty services unique to Des Moines and the region.
To ensure outpatient health is convenient and accessible, Mercy has five Urgent Care clinics and more than 50 family practice and specialty care clinics located throughout the Des Moines metro area. Mercy also provides services and support to a network of critical access hospitals and health care facilities in 18 central Iowa communities.
