Overview

Our community blood supply is a lifeline for you, your family, friends, and neighbors. Through the combined efforts of our geographic blood services operations, approximately 2,000 units of blood products are collected each day and distributed to more than 20 million people in New York City, Long Island, the Hudson Valley, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. New York Blood Center's impact is local, national, and global. We provide over 1 million blood products a year to meet the daily transfusion needs of cancer and surgery patients, accident and burn victims, newborns and mothers delivering babies, AIDS and sickle cell anemia patients, organ transplant recipients, and many others.

New York Blood Center is home to the Lindsley F. Kimball Research Institute and the National Cord Blood Program at the Howard P. Milstein National Cord Blood Center, the world's largest public cord blood bank. We also provide medical services and programs (clinical, transfusion, and hemophilia services) through our medical professionals and transfusion medicine physicians.
