- Point your mouse over "My Account" in the top right corner of the page
- Select "Bright Profile" from the drop-down menu
- Click on "Edit Information" at the top of the page OR click on the "Edit" button next to each section you wish to edit
You can also upload a new resume (that you can send to employers when applying for a position) by doing the following:
- Point your mouse over "My Account" in the top right corner of the page
- Select "Settings" from the drop-down menu
- Select "Manage Resumes" from the menu on the left
- Select "Add a New Resume" from the menu on the left
You can add as many resumes as you like. This will not change the information that is shown in your Bright profile.
Back to topDo you accept international addresses?
For the time being, we only accept zip codes and addresses in the U.S., because we only have jobs in the U.S. If you are looking for a job in the U.S. and are planning to relocate, please use the zip code of the area in the U.S. where you are looking for a job. You can search zip codes by state here: http://www.50states.com/zipcodes/#.UC2exEIre-8. It is a good practice, however, to let the employer know where you are currently located.
We are growing rapidly and we do have future plans to expand internationally, so please stay tuned!

Back to topApplying for Jobs
Can you tell me more about a position I am interested in?
We are glad that you found an opportunity on Bright that you are thinking about applying for!
Bright works with many partners and employers to populate our database of more than 2.5 million jobs. Bright provides an easy way to find these jobs, but we do not have specific information on each position. If you have a question about a specific opening, we encourage you to contact the employer directly.
Back to topHow do I apply to a job in an email notification?
If you are interested in any of the jobs in your job alert email, please click on the job to be taken to the full description. From this page, please click on the "Apply" button and follow the instructions to apply. If there is no button, follow the instructions in the job description.
Back to topI want to apply for a job, but it doesn’t look like it’s there anymore. Now what?
Bright works with many partners and employers to populate our database of more than 2.5 million jobs. As openings get filled by employers, it may take 24-48 hours to be updated and removed from our database. But don’t worry, more jobs are being listed every day!
Back to topHow do I know if my application went through?
To check on your job applications, follow these steps:
- Log in to your Bright account
- Point your mouse over "My Account" in the top right corner of the page
- Select "My Applications"
The positions that you have applied to will be listed in this section. They will be marked as:
- Complete: Your application has been submitted to the employer
- Ongoing: Your application is still trying to submit
- Error: There was an error with your application, and it has not been submitted
- Expired: This job listing expired while you were completing the application, and it has not been submitted
- Incomplete: Your application is missing information and has not been submitted
- Offsite: You were directed to an external website to complete your application, and Bright is not able to track it further
I think there is a problem with my job application, can you give me an update?
We are sorry to hear that you are having some difficulties applying for a position!
First, please check to see how your application was submitted:
- Log in to your Bright account
- Point your mouse over "My Account" in the top right corner of the page
- Select "My Applications"
The positions that you have applied to will be listed in this section. If your application is marked as:
- Ongoing: Your application is still trying to submit. Please check back later to make sure that it went through.
- Error: There was an error with your application. Please try to submit it again.
- Incomplete: Your application is missing some information. Please fill out the information and submit it.
- Expired: Unfortunately, this job listing has expired. Please search our other opportunities.
If your application is marked as "Offsite", it was completed on an external website. Many of the 2.5+ million jobs in Bright's database require job applicants to fill out application forms on their own website or a partner job site. Unfortunately, we cannot provide any assistance in those cases. You would need to contact either the partner site or the employer directly.
If the application you are having trouble with is marked "Complete", copy and paste the address of the job you applied for and send it to support@bright.com with an explanation of what problem you are running into. The address should look like this: http://www.bright.com/jobs/job/123
Back to topI applied for a job but haven’t heard back from the employer. What should I do?
Unfortunately, this is one of the difficult parts of the job search - waiting to hear back from the employer. This is not something we have control over, as each company has their own specific hiring process. We also do not have specific information about the status of your application at those companies. Any questions relating to the status should be directed to the employer directly.
There are a few things you can do on Bright to increase your chances of being noticed by potential employers.
- Do you know anyone at the company, or do any of your friends know someone at the company? A recent study showed that about 60% of new hires were through some sort of employee referral.
- If you haven't already - connect your Facebook account. Bright has created a fantastic tool to help you find your connections at companies that are hiring and allows you to get in touch with them easily.
- Complete your Bright profile with your work history and skills. Employers are constantly searching for qualified candidates using our search tools. By having a complete profile, this significantly increases your odds of being noticed in a search.

Back to topSafety and Privacy
Who sees the personal information I entered when I made my Bright account? Can I control who sees my resume?
Our users' privacy is a top priority. No information in your Bright profile is publicly viewable, and our database is not searchable by employers. As one of the great features of Bright, you may be suggested as a prospect to employers with accounts on Bright for jobs that you are well-qualified for. This allows you to be considered for relevant jobs without even having to submit an application! Don't worry, you will never be shown as a prospect to your current employer.
Back to topWhy are you asking for my high school graduation year?
Date of high school graduation, which Bright users may provide during the account creation process, will never be shared by Bright with potential or future employers that have opportunities listed on Bright.com, and will not have any impact on the hiring decisions for any of the employment opportunities you or any other user apply to that are listed on Bright. The information is used solely to help determine if any of our partner's offers are relevant and can provide you with valuable benefits, and is not requested by employers with active listings on Bright.
Back to topHow do I know that the jobs I’m applying for are real?
We do our best to make sure we post only real, secure application opportunities, but we work with many partners and employers to populate our database of more than 2.5 million jobs, and it’s possible that a less-than-perfect listing might get through.
If you believe that a job on Bright could be fake or a scam, please let us know immediately!
You can create a support ticket using the feedback tab at the bottom of each page, or by sending an email to us at: support@bright.com. Be sure to include the following details:
- company name
- job title
- job location
- link to the job
We will investigate the job and take the appropriate action to protect our users.
The Better Business Bureau also offers the following tips when finding a job through online searches:
- Never Pay Upfront Fees. No legitimate job offer will require out of pocket expenses from a potential employee for background checks, credit reports or administrative fees before an interview.
- Protect Personal Information. Job seekers should never provide their social security number, birth date, or bank account information for direct deposit setup until they have officially been hired.
- Be Careful of the “Perfect Offer.” Job seekers should be cautious of any posting advertising extremely high pay for short hours or minimal required experience. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
- Treat Work-at-Home Offers with Caution. Most jobs that imply you can work from home with no previous experience and rake in cash are a ploy to trap you into giving away your credit card information, cashing fake checks, or paying for training that should be free. Job seekers should understand employees working from home generally go through the traditional in-person interviews and hiring process and often have prior experience in what they are doing, work for a salary, or have spent time and money developing the market for their work.
